The Illusion of Perfection

Perfection… it’s an illusion.

In the world of fitness, and nutrition, and body composition, perfection is a myth. There’s no such thing. It doesn’t exist.

You’re never going to be perfect with your diet or exercise. Why? Because life happens. And also, you’re human. Do you forget that sometimes? Do you think about what that means? Do you think about how being human impacts your perception of perfection?

A psychological component of behaviour change is keeping the streak alive. A streak of completion.

Once you start something and complete a task, and then complete it again, and again, and again, you gain psychological momentum. Not only do you WANT to continue, it’s easier to continue because you’re already rolling.

There’s a BIG however though…

These streaks ALSO happen with negative behaviours. You miss one, no big deal. You miss another, meh. You miss another and soon you get overwhelmed and think because you haven’t done it for this long, what’s the point now?

Don’t let this bias of perfection, black and white, all or nothing thinking keep that negative streak going.

Remember, something is always better than nothing.

Always.

Something being better than nothing is a certainty like death, taxes, and Ikea furniture making you want to punch a hole in the wall.

Something is ALWAYS better than nothing.

Let this be your mantra.
